Switches

Overview of common switch types, when to use them, and how impulse/push buttons work with domotica.

Switches define how a load is controlled. Choosing the right switch type makes an installation clearer, safer, and easier to extend later.

Single-pole switch

The standard switch for one lighting point or one switched circuit. Typical use: simple control from one location.

Two-way switch

Two two-way switches allow one light point to be controlled from two locations (for example bottom and top of a staircase).

Intermediate switch

Used between two two-way switches when one light point must be controlled from three or more locations.

Double switch

Two independent switching mechanisms in one unit. Useful to control two lighting groups from one location.

Dimmer

Used to control light intensity. Always check compatibility with the fixture and LED driver (LED dimmers are not universally compatible).

Impulse switch / push button (domotica)

An impulse button does not keep a fixed on/off position; it sends a short pulse. That makes it ideal for domotica:

• the button triggers an input on a domotica module or relay,
• system logic decides what happens (on/off, scene, timer, all-off, ...),
• functions can be changed later without redesigning all wiring.

In modern installations, push buttons are often combined with central control so the same button can trigger different actions depending on configuration.
